Miss Matched

Shoes

With this piece, I created a strong light source to demonstrate the contrast between the positive and negative space. My main focus was first drawing the correct proportions and shape. When finding my values, I always start with a softer; but lighter charcoal and then work my way to a darker tone. After forming the positive area around the shoes, I wanted to show a sense of realism and reflection. Each and every single piece contains a fragment of myself, which have become vessels to my darkest and brightest thoughts. As an artist, I really want to challenge myself no matter what medium I use or what I’m trying to convey.

It’s my first award winning piece, it just received Best in Show 2014 at the Area Art Show in Middletown Ohio.

Prints are available upon request.  Size 19 x 29
